The Spiritual Seeker Vs. The Spiritual Tourist?

This summer, my family and I visited the sacred sites of Badrinath and Kedarnath. During my journey, I had a profound realization that I would like to share with you.

I observed thousands of pilgrims who had come from around the world to pay homage to Lord Vishnu (Badri Vishal) and Lord Shiva.

I saw a majority of them go to the temple, ring the bell, say a prayer, make an offering and leave. These individuals were just going thru the motions and following the rituals blindly. It saddened me to see that there was no acknowledgment or appreciation of the spiritual reverence of these unique sites.

Journeys for the seeker! This observation made me understand the uniqueness of our journeys, or Swadharma Aatma Yatras as we call them. Our journeys, our meditations, and purification exercises prepare the individual to witness and tap into the powerful vibrations that are resident in the sacred Himalayas. Without proper preparation, these energies or spiritual vibrations cannot be assimilated and utilized for the evolution of the soul. The eternal questions - Who am I? and What is my purpose? can only be answered when the consciousness is cleansed and calm.

Of course, we can't promise you enlightenment or Nirvana, but we can assure you that, you will open the doorway to the answers you have been searching for.

Yoga goes beyond the Mat! Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists visit Rishikesh, Haridwar, and countless other spiritual sites in India. Most of them go back disappointed because they have not found what they were looking for. A majority come to India to study Yoga, in the many Yoga centers that have sprouted up on the banks of the Holy Ganga. Doing Yoga asanas is fantastic, but Yoga means union, union of the incarnated soul with the higher soul. Yoga goes beyond the mat. Yoga along with the other limbs of Yoga is what propels us forward in our soul evolution.

Ultimately, we all have to find and live our Swadharma. As Mahavtar Babaji once said - An ounce of practice is better than tons of theory.

So which one are you? a Spiritual Tourist or a Spiritual Seeker?

So the question you have to ask yourself is, are you visiting India as a Spiritual Tourist or a Spiritual Seeker? And if you happen to live in India, have you experienced the spiritual essence of India?

If you are looking for the truth, then I can assure you that our yatras are the portal to take you on that inner journey. If you want to visit these sites as a tourist, call me, and I will recommend the best travel agents who will take you there. Better still, why come all this way, if you're not even going to tap into this soulful energy that can push you rapidly forward in your soul evolution. Some say that doing spiritual practices in these sites for an hour is equivalent to doing many months of regular practice in urban locations.

What's the point of going sailing, if you're not even going to open your sail and catch the wind!
