The Return of The Soul Rider

February 3, 2018

Greetings everyone!

I felt it was about time I shared an update on what I have been up to for the past few years.

These past few years have been busy for everyone. Family, kids, work, life, and countless responsibilities conspire to fill our days with nonstop activity.

In 2014, my wife and two sons moved to Dehradun, where I spent three and a half years working with my alma mater, The Doon School as the Director of Development and Alumni Relations. I got the opportunity to give something back to an institution that has given me so much.

Living in Uttarakhand aka Dev Bhoomi, or the 'Land of the Gods', also allowed me to deepen my meditation, yoga and spiritual practice. I traveled extensively in the greater Himalayas and met yogis and saints who were deeply rooted in the spiritual path. During this time, I tried to understand my nature, work on my weaknesses, find my purpose and apply it to my life and work.

You may recall, that in 2009 I established Soul Rider, an organisation whose purpose was to help people find happiness. First, we focused on activities like coaching, meditation, healing, and yoga and spread our work in Delhi, Barcelona, and London. However, these disciplines only skimmed the surface of spiritual growth.
As I progressed on my path, I realised what was missing in our practice. We needed to take people deeper into themselves and have them figure out their 'Swadharma.

Swadharma स्वधर्म

Swadharma is a fascinating concept which is hard to describe. If you google Swadharma, you will find different explanations that don't do the term justice.

Eknath Easwaran, an Indian-born spiritual teacher, gives one of the most concise explanations. He states that Dharma comes from the root dhri, 'to support'; dharma is what supports us, keeps us together, prevents us from flying to pieces in the face of stress. Sva means 'own.'

Hence Swadharma means our personal dharma. A good analogy would be this, we are all climbing the same mountain and have different paths. Your Swadharma is the unique path that you have to follow to scale your mountain. It is your thoughts, words, beliefs, values, actions, practices, rituals, etc. that ensure you are firm-footed as you traverse life.

As we relaunch Soul Rider, we do so with the intention of helping people find their Swadharma. Soul Rider is like The Sarthi (the charioteer) as described in the Bhagavad Gita. We design and conduct bespoke spiritual journeys in the Himalayas that bring people in touch with their inner yogi.

The Himalayas are the 'Cradle of Yogic Wisdom.' For thousands of years, great sages have spent their lives wandering these majestic mountains and doing 'Tapasya' on the banks of its holy rivers to attain enlightenment. These Rishis or sages are considered to be the source of all yogic wisdom.

The divine energy that is resident in these sacred mountains can make your soul vibrate. It is this energy that lifts the layers of ignorance and allows you to know yourself and create your own Swadharma.

We design our journeys to tap into this energy and propel you forward in your evolution. Our ability to understand you and develop a journey around your needs and aspirations is what separates us from the rest.

Some of our clients wish to deepen their yoga or meditation practice; some want to begin one; others want to find a Guru that they can follow.
Whatever may be one's spiritual quest, Soul Rider is there to meet their goals.

We work with not only the best teachers but those that can communicate clearly and engagingly. We select our hotels with great care and have deep relationships with the best ashrams in the region. (Read Why Soul Rider?)

Before I conclude, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this message. Please do keep us in your heart and mind. We rely on referrals to grow our work. If you like and value what we do, we would be delighted if you told your family, friends, colleagues, and clients about Soul Rider.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Better still come to the Himalayas and visit us.
Let Soul Rider take you where you have never been before!

Wishing you a fabulous 2018!

Thank you!
